onionYoop and Yazoo and big jammy kisses, my short story ‘In Passing Brass Onion’ has been accepted for publication by the outstanding people over at Cactus Heart.

It’s a silly story, partly inspired by the wall in our kitchen. ‘What?’ you may say, ‘How could you write a story about that?’ and I’ll just wink and keep on dancin’.

It’ll be out soon. Keep those eyes peeled! Like an onion!

Kids-Jigsaw-PuzzleWell hurrah and halloo and fol-de-rol,  I am cock-a-hoop to announce my short story ‘The Look-Away Club’ has been accepted for publication by the beautiful people over at Corvus.

It’s a silly, whimsical tale about one magical summer, filled with friendship, larks, and one *very* special jigsaw!

It’ll be out next month!

DSC05755Hurrah, hurrah indeed! I am glad to inform you, the person blithely skimming these lines, that my short story ‘A Caring for Creatures’ has been accepted by the fabulous people over at decomP magazinE.

It is a hefty story, filled with Metaphor and Artistic Angst but also has sort of flying things in it as well, so that’s good, I think.

Anyway, it should emerge from the pipe in time for May, so keep your good eye out for the silly thing!

orange-caramel-cosplay-6YAY! I am very pleased to announce that my short story ‘Soft Atheist Caramel’ has been accepted for publication by The Write Room.

I’m looking forward to seeing what people think of it, even after all this time I really have no idea what it is about!

YAY regardless,

G

It’s a super-fun story, if I say so myself, and I hope you all enjoy it, but it’s only one of a plethora of fantastic pieces that make up Issue 06. Go read and have your fill of hot creation!

Best,

curlew2Lord save us, I must positively reek of Hubris at this point! Howandever, my short story When Love’s Left Out For Us To Find, will, after clearing up a little rights snafu on my part, be published in the near future by the stellar citizens over at Foundling Review.

It’s a delightful story of love, dance, and screaming maniacal birds. Like this gentleman, pictured here. Just who does he think he is?!?  HA HA HA HA. Look for it soon!

image-14-for-jimmy-savile-life-in-pictures-gallery-119800073Well glory be, doesn’t this miracle put ol’ resurrectin’ Christ to shame? I woke up this morning to find not one, not three, but *two* acceptances waiting for me in my inbox. Can you imagine the big smile on me? No! Bigger than that!

Anyway, first up, the good folk over at Dark Edifices have accepted my short story The Big Soft Gentle Man, which is a charming tale of a special day in school, with a cavalcade of silly kiddies and the nonsense they get up to.

Second up, my story Days We Give Up Granddad has been accepted by the lovely people at Literary Orphans. It is an amusing literary jaunt about some silly kiddies and the special games they play under the bed.

I am particularly happy both of these have been accepted, they are both ‘late’ stories, written in some haste and with a more than a soupcon of creative doubt. Delighted that they are both going to such good homes. Hope you like them too!

G

crooked-teeth Well colour me ecstatic! My short story An Alabaster Fang, a personal favourite of mine, has been published as Story of the Week by the good folk over at The Missing Slate, a particularly fine venue of multicultural and cosmopolitan writing. And there’s me, jammed in amongst them with my big mucky Meath head! Wow! *GRIN*

Alabaster Fang is a heart-warming story of love and triumph and innapropriate mouth-wear. Go have a read of it if you have the inclination. I’m very fond of it, and hope you will be too.

charlie-mccarthy-looking-at-babyHurrah, hurrah, hurrah! Another lovely acceptance! My hilarious short story Francie and Dennis are In Tonight has been accepted for publication by the lovely folks at Deimos eZine.

It’s another of those odd stories, where my concern was filling in the spaces of the world between other stories, and it’s good to know that it works on its own terms.

Expect it to be appear in June, at some stage.

High five, friends.
