Greetings, Heroes!

Greetings, Heroes! is an interactive storytelling programme for schools devised by Graham Tugwell and Dave Rudden (Knights of the Borrowed Dark, Doctor Who: Twelve Angels Weeping) where the students take control of the narrative, guiding a diverse team of adventurers through a series of traps and puzzles, their success or failure determined by teamwork, imagination, and the roll of a dice. No two sessions of Greetings, Heroes! are ever the same!

Recipient of a School Excellence Award, Greetings, Heroes! aims to promote and encourage emotional literacy, inclusion, diversity and problem-solving through collaborative storytelling, showcasing the power of narrative by placing creative responsibility in the hands of the students.

Greetings, Heroes! is offered in a variety of formats and can be tailored to the needs of libraries and schools, from one day events to multi-week courses:

The School Course

For classes up to 30. Over four to six weeks, students are led through the process of world creation, designing a unique map and their own characters with special powers and abilities. They are then guided through an adventure set upon the world they have created, fostering a sense of both artistic ownership and practical lessons in teamwork and problem-solving.

The Land of the Crystal Lake, created by the students of Askea Girl’s School, Carlow

The School Event

For audiences of 20 to 100. An hour long event where a class or classes are split into four groups, each guiding their own hero through the narrative, solving riddles, defeating monsters and ridding the kingdom of an ancient evil. Performed at over a hundred schools across Ireland, the Greetings, Heroes! event offers a unique learning experience that is equal parts interactive fun and educational challenge.

The Theatre Show

For audiences of 100+. Greetings, Heroes! takes the stage! A full theatrical experience, where the audience chooses their hero, arms them with unique magical weapons and mystical items, and sends them on their journey, their every choice directed by the audience via the peerless device, the WAAA-ohmeter!
