Down Below the Reservoir

Produced between 2016 and 2018, Down Below the Reservoir was Ireland’s first horror audiodrama, written and produced by Graham Tugwell and starring literary luminaries Dave Rudden, Deirdre Sullivan and Sarah Griff. Recorded at Displace Studious, Dublin, 18 episodes of Down Below the Reservoir were produced, veering wildly from mean-spirited comedy to mean-spirited horror and dealing with the author’s still-unresolved issues with relationships and body horror. Down Below the Reservoir was, for a time, looked on with a passive contempt that could almost be mistaken for genuine regard. Almost. It remains one of the hidden gems of the Irish horror scene, if one stretches the term ‘gem’ to utter unusability.

A sample of one of the most popular episodes ‘Soundless Walk the Fallow Men’ can be listened to here:

All episodes can be listened to or downloaded from the official website. DBTR is also available from iTunes, Amazon Music, and wherever fine podcasts can be found and, luckily for me, terrible podcasts too.
